DADA Movement

DADA or Dadaism was an art movement which started in the early 20th century in Zürich, Switzerland. This movement was developed during the first World War from a group of artists who rejected the logic, reason and aestheticism of modern society, they created 'Anti-Art', a type of art that is nonsense and/or irrational.

The name, DADA, was created apparently from an Austrian artist, named Richard Huelsenbeck, who plunged a knife into a dictionary the word the knife went through was DADA, a French term for a hobby horse.

Sophie Taeuber-Arp

Sophie Taeuber-Arp was a Swiss artist. She is considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century. She was originally a dancer on stages as well as a puppeteer. She created costumes for actors and she would make the same outfits for the puppets she owned. DADA performances would be very strange to witness as they are notorious for making non-sense however, the meaning for the DADA movement was to give a strong view on war in a artistic way.
